Truemessenger app from Truecaller to filter spam messages

Truecaller has launched new app, Truemessenger service for Android phones, an SMS replacement app that helps in countering spam messages received to an user on daily basis

How it works:

Truemessenger allows a user to add a name to a number, even for contacts outside their phone book. The app also allows a user to detect, block, and report spam alongside other Truecaller members. Just like how Truecaller operates for spam calls.
Using this app Users can avoid messages from unwanted numbers and contacts and can also have a clean Inbox where spam messages are automatically sent to a separate folder.

The new app also offers advanced filtering options by creating customized filters with known spam keywords or number series.

Normally, Truemessenger takes a phone number and using the 150 million members from the Truecaller community it identifies the actual name behind the number.

Alan Mamedi, CEO & co-founder of Truecaller, said in a press statement -“Today’s messaging apps are under constant attack from spammers and surrounded by uncertainty, but when we communicate via email for instance, our email app shows you the sender’s name and filters out spam messages for you, but SMS has lacked these essential components – until today,With Truemessenger, we've re imagined the SMS app experience by making it more social and putting control back into the users’ hands so they  always know who they are communicating with.”

As of now, the app is only available for android users in India and it is expected to be available in other platforms in near future.
